Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who would benefit from the Rapid Vocal Results coaching method?

Singers

Singers at all levels; beginner, intermediate, advanced through to professional gigging musicians and recording artists.

Public speakers

Anyone that relies on public speaking to generate income. Executives, salespeople and marketers can use RVR to powerfully connect their diaphragmatic breathing to their authentic speaking voices.

Singers or public speakers with additional learning challenges

People that have either diagnosed or undiagnosed learning disorders or challenges can benefit from Rapid Vocal Results and become very successful.

Some of the challenges that RVR students live with and still see benefits from the programme include Asperger's syndrome, autism, motor difficulty (problems with movement and coordination), language or learning disabilities, auditory processing disorder, visual processing disorder, ADHD and dyslexia.

People with dyspraxia can often learn new skills but forget them very quickly when using traditional learning methods. Rapid Vocal Results' learning and development system has produced successful results in students that deal with dyspraxia.

RVR achieves successful learning outcomes for all students by using each brain's preferred effective learning methods.

Q: What are your coaching channels?

Rapid Vocal Results coaching services are available as face-to-face, one-to-one sessions at our studio in West Auckland, New Zealand. We also coach via Skype anywhere in the world.

For students without access to a reliable internet connection, phone (landline or  mobile) coaching is also available if required.

Q: What kinds of students do you coach?

We coach beginner, intermediate and advanced singers, including working musicians and professional recording artists. Current coaching credits include artists with contracts from both Sony and Universal record labels.

We have lots of college aged students that are taking NCEA music and we have coached students aged from 12 years old up to 70 years old (you read that correctly!) Our students come from all walks of life and vary in their ages and backgrounds. We have an equal mix of male and female students.

We have successfully coached a number of students with diagnosed (and undiagnosed) learning challenges. It's much more common than you think to have an undiagnosed learning challenge, and it's awesome to watch these students not only grow more confident with their vocal skills, but to watch their personal confidence and self esteem grow too!

Q: What age should my child start singing lessons?

Unless your child is a prodigy and they display a maturity in their singing voice well beyond their years, children shouldn't start formal singing lessons until they are at least 8-10 years old.

This is because children need to have an attention span and patience that is sufficiently developed to be able to stay engaged for the full 30 minute coaching session to benefit from the RVR coaching method.

There are some exceptions to this rule, but for the most part let kids be kids! Encourage their love of music by letting them sing along to karaoke tracks at home. If you believe that your child demonstrates an exceptional singing voice or a gifted ear for following vocal melodies, then you are most welcome to contact us for further discussion around how we can help with their musical journey.

Q: How do I get started?

The first step is to either call or email us.

When you email, remember to tell me a bit about yourself, like your name, your age how long you have been singing. Let me know why you're wanting to book a coaching session with me. What are your basic vocal goals or objectives for receiving coaching lessons? Also let me know what your availability is for coaching i.e. what day (or days) of the week and times suit you best for your coaching sessions?

For a rapid response, please include your mobile number so that we can discuss your goals in detail over the phone.

Absolutely! Click here for information about our one-of-a-kind gift vouchers.

Gift vouchers can be purchased for one or multiple lessons, either for yourself or for that special someone in your life that has a passion for singing.

Q: Where is the RVR coaching studio?

We're based in West Auckland, New Zealand and coach in person at our studio. You'll get instructions on how to find the RVR studio when you book your first coaching session. If you forget where we are, please call us at any time on 022 046 4034.

If you're not from Auckland or you require international coaching, don't worry, I can still coach you over Skype or via Zoom!

Q: Which singing styles do you teach?

We coach rock, metal, blues, pop, country, RnB as well as traditional musical theatre and operatic styles.

How can we coach all of these styles? It's because there aren't 100 great ways to sing. Once you have an understanding of the anatomy of the voice and how it's designed to work, you will notice that all singing styles share commonalities. Their total colours and unique characteristics are called vocal styling techniques.

Q: Can you teach aggressive rock and metal style singing?

Yes. We have a number of metal and rock singers from both established and emerging bands that seek us out for specialised coaching in this area. We have a number of techniques that we teach that can help with safely distorting the voice (grit, gravel and rasp) without causing permanent damage.

Q: How much do your coaching services cost?
